FINANCIAL DATA ANALYSIS SERVICES FOR A MANUFACTURING COMPANY
PROBLEM DEFINITION
A mid-sized Indian manufacturing firm specialising in industrial equipment was facing declining profit margins despite steady revenue growth. The management lacked clear financial visibility and suspected inefficiencies in production and supply chain costs. Their in-house finance team was equipped only for routine bookkeeping and tax filing, and they struggled to conduct deep-dive financial analysis or create future-focused forecasting models. They approached PIE Multilingual to conduct a comprehensive financial health analysis and assist in strategic cost optimisation.
BUSINESSES REQUIREMENTS
The client required a comprehensive end-to-end financial analysis solution to enhance visibility into their operational and strategic performance. A key priority was to evaluate profitability across various departments and product lines, enabling data-driven decisions about resource allocation and product optimisation. They needed to uncover hidden cost leakages, identify underperforming segments, and analyse revenue trends to shape long-term financial strategy. Developing monthly and quarterly forecasting models was essential for budgeting and future planning.
To support internal efficiency, the solution also had to track key operational KPIS, including raw material costs, labour expenses, and logistics overheads—critical cost components in the manufacturing sector. Additionally, the client sought to generate clear, presentation-ready financial reports for board reviews and investor presentations. The solution needed to align closely with the company’s growth targets and strategic vision. Given the complexity of their manufacturing operations, they also needed a partner with deep domain expertise in manufacturing economics and advanced financial modelling to ensure the analysis was both accurate and actionable.
MULTILINGUAL FINANCIAL DATA ANALYSIS COMPANY APPROACH
We initiated the project with a comprehensive financial audit and cost-benefit analysis to uncover inefficiencies and provide a clear overview of the client’s financial landscape. Leveraging data from the client’s ERP and accounting systems, specifically Tally ERP and Zoho Books, we extracted historical financial data to create customised, real-time dashboards. Our team of financial analysts developed a framework that enabled the client to monitor financial performance continuously, empowering them to plan more effectively and make informed decisions. Key components of our approach included conducting a detailed product-level profitability analysis across different SKUS to identify high-performing and underperforming products. We also built a robust forecasting model using Excel and Power BI, covering essential metrics such as sales projections, cash flow analysis, and capital expenditure planning. To further refine the client’s understanding of operational inefficiencies, we benchmarked their costs against industry standards, pinpointing areas that required improvement.
Our monthly management reports featured comprehensive visualisations, variance analysis, and trend forecasts, providing actionable insights into their financial performance. In addition, we offered strategic recommendations for cost-saving measures, such as vendor renegotiation, bulk purchasing, and asset reallocation. To ensure the client’s financial team could independently manage and update the system, we provided training on how to use and maintain the dashboards effectively. We also maintained a close collaborative relationship with the client by holding bi-weekly review meetings with the CFO and department heads. These meetings allowed us to refine insights, adjust forecasts, and continuously support the client’s strategic decision-making, ensuring alignment with their overall growth objectives.
